Knocking the dust off

Well today I am going to try out my new used Bear Kodiak compound for the first time. I am alittle nervous as I have not fired a bow in about 20years. The setup is nothing fancy which should suit me well as I have never liked sights and have always shot instictively. I am going to try a mechanical release today as I hear it makes you more consistent in your release. Although I am nervous at the same time I can't get the thought out of my head that I am worried about nothing. Well I will return victorious or humbled we shall see.

Ok went and shot yesterday and had a few problems with the prong arrow rest mainly keeping the arrow on it. I had my groups down to 4inches at 10yds but all left of my point of aim. Went back today and shot for about 4hrs. Found out my problem with shooting left the arrow rest was pointing the arrow left. Installed a new hostage capture rest and this solved the problem. Also had to install a string loop for my release it kept unknocking my arrows at full draw. I noticed a large amount of arrow drop at 20yds as opposed to 10yds don't think this has to do with the bow as much as the arrows. I was shooting Game Winners from Academy and I think if I find a better arrow I will get that speed back. I have decided after shooting today to find a good set of sights to try as I think I could use the help right now.

Good luck out there! I'd love to be able to shoot instinctive, but I love the new sights on the market these days. If you haven't shot a bow in 20 years you may want to check them out. They're a lot different than the painted tipped pin sights from 20 years ago. Let us know how it goes.
